Extrafit System Clean 2240

Field of Application

Extrafit System Clean 2240 is a highly effective alkaline system cleaner for dampening solution circulation and plate development systems. Cleans and rinses thoroughly and removes all im-purities in the dampening solution circuit. Due to its alkaline setting, Extrafit System Clean 2240 is a strongly- acting cleaner.

Properties

  • Alkaline cleaner for dampening solution circuits
  • System cleaner in plate processors
  • High cleaning efficiency
  • Especially for heavily soiled systems

Application

Allow a 5 to 10% solution to circulate in the dampening solution circuit for 2 to 4 hours, de-pending on the degree of soiling. Then rinse with clear water for approx. one hour, then prepare a 10% fountain solution additive solution. Let this circulate for another hour, then drain off and prepare the standard fountain solution additive.

Attention: Do not use during the printing process! See the following recommendations for system cleaning procedures.

Procedure for system cleaning

System cleaning should be performed when there is a possibility to take the machine out of production for a few hours. The longer the rinsing time, the stronger the effect. 2 - 4 hours should be allowed for the actual rinsing with Extrafit System Clean 2240. The time for rinsing to remove residues of the cleaner from the system and to bring the pH value back into a pH range favorable for printing needs to be added.

Important: Do not fill the system cleaner into the dampening solution system during an ongoing production run. Likewise, the cleaning solution should not be warmed up, as this increases the cleaning power of the cleaner by a multiple and could damage machine parts and seals.

Emptying the circuit system

Drain the used fountain solution completely. In case of heavy soiling, wash out the circulation basin manually from the inside (with a cloth or brush) before refilling with a system cleaner to remove the coarse dirt and sludge deposits. Replace any clogged filters with new ones.

Preparing the system cleaner

Then fill the circulation system with tap water and add Extrafit System Clean 2240. Ensure that the pH value in the solution settles at approx. pH 12. The cooling of the circulation system can be switched off during rinsing, since rinsing is usually performed at "room temperature". The rinsing itself should then take 2 - 4 hours, as already described. A longer cleaning time is ad-vantageous. The longer, the better.

Cleaning the circuit system

During the cleaning process, foam can form, the amount depends on the system. This foam fills the pipes and additionally improves the cleaning power. Clogged filters should be roughly washed out during the cleaning process, because detached microbial turf could clog the filters. If necessary, during system cleaning, wash the inside of the circulation unit again with a heating brush.

Neutralising

Before draining the alkaline circulating water, the solution should be neutralised down to a value of approx. pH 7. The additional use of acids is unnecessary for this process. Adding a larger quantity of the fountain solution additive used has the same effect (approx. 10% addition). Then drain off the mixture.

Rinsing with water

Fill the circulation system again with water and an addition of fountain solution additive (ap-prox. 5 - 10%). Let this solution circulate for approx. 30 minutes, then drain the water. Repeat this procedure at least once more. For spray dampening systems, it is recommended that the filters in front of and inside the spray bar are checked and cleaned if necessary.

Refilling with fountain solution

Fill the circulation system with the desired concentration of the fountain solution additive. New filters should definitely be used. When the machine is restarted after cleaning, the conductivity and pH value should be back in the range recommended by the fountain solution manufacturer.

Various

It is a normal process if dirt continues to come out of the pipes in the following days.
