5 Sustainable Development Goals Sustainable Development Goals In 2015, the United Nations agreed globally applicable Sustainable De- velopment Goals (SDGs) within the framework of Agenda 2030. These 17 sustainability goals are intended to contribute towards ending extreme poverty, fighting inequality and in- justice, and contributing to the pro- tection of our environment. The SDGs are also addressed specifically to companies. Because the economy can contribute greatly towards implement- ing the SDGs as it has an influence on nu- merous topics and developments. This also applies to Epple Druckfarben and we acknowledge these SDGs. We have defined four major sustainability points (cf. Page 6f.) where the SDGs provide us with guidance to drive them forward with sub-objectives and measures. This applies to the business and production processes at the Neusäß site, the product portfolio, supplier management and the reduction of CO 2 emissions. Based on the scientific model of plan- etary boundaries, the relevance of the SDGs for a global, holistic sustainability development is clear. The fundamen- tal concept is a biosphere in which the economic systems and societies are embedded. The economy here is an in- tegrative part of our society and should therefore only develop within the plane- tary boundaries. This steps away from the previously separate depiction of social, economic and ecological development. Based on this, an expanded model was developed in 2016, a model built around the principle of a tiered wedding cake. This should apply the scientific model of the planetary sustainability boundaries to the 17 goals for sustainable develop- ment (Sustainable Development Goals) set by the United Nations. This diagram rests upon four non-nego- tiable planetary boundaries, i.e.: Fresh water, climate, biodiversity and oceans. This means that the sustainability goals 6 (Clean water), 13 (Climate action), 14 (Life below water) and 15 (Life on land) are of fundamental importance. 2015 haben sich die Vereinten Natio- nen auf weltweit gültige Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) im Rah- men der Agenda 2030 geeinigt. Die- se 17 Nachhaltigkeitsziele sollen zur Beendigung von extremer Armut, zur Bekämpfung von Ungleichheit und Ungerechtigkeit sowie zum Schutz unserer Umwelt beitragen. Dabei richten sich die SDGs konkret auch an Unternehmen. Denn die Wirtschaft kann zur Umsetzung der SDGs einen gro­ ßen Beitrag leisten, weil sie Einfluss auf viele Themen und Entwicklungen hat. Das gilt auch für Epple Druckfarben und wir bekennen uns zu den SDGs. Wir haben vier Nachhaltigkeitsschwerpunkte definiert (vergleiche Seite 6 f.) und die SDGs geben uns Orientierung, diese mit Unterzielen und Maßnahmen voranzutreiben. Das gilt für Geschäfts- und Produktionsprozesse am Standort Neusäß, das Produktportfo­ lio, das Lieferantenmanagement und die Reduktion von CO₂-Emissionen. Übertragen auf das wissenschaftliche Modell der „Planetaren Grenzen“ offen­ bart sich die Relevanz der SDGs für eine globale, ganzheitliche Nachhaltigkeits­ entwicklung. Grundgedanke ist dabei eine Biosphäre, in die Wirtschaftssysteme und Gesellschaften eingebettet sind. Dabei ist die Wirtschaft integrativer Teil unserer Ge­ sellschaft und darf sich nur innerhalb der planetaren Grenzen entwickeln. Dies ist eine Abkehr der getrennten Betrachtung von sozialer, wirtschaftlicher und ökologi­ scher Entwicklung. Darauf basierend wurde 2016 ein erweiter­ tes Modell entworfen, das nach demPrinzip einer Hochzeitstorte aufgebaut ist. Damit soll das wissenschaftlicheModell der plane­ taren Belastbarkeitsgrenzen auf die 17 Ziele für eine Nachhaltige Entwicklung (Sustain­ able Development Goals) der Vereinten Na­ tionen übertragen werden. Basis dieser Darstellung sind vier nicht ver­ handelbare planetare Grenzen, nämlich: Trinkwasser, Klima, Biodiversität und Mee­ re.
