The offset process is based on the repulsion of oil, i.e. the printing ink, and water as a protective film on the printing plate. To ensure that the water film applied to the printing plate has the necessary properties, such as good wetting, plate protection, protection against lime deposits and others, a dampening solution concentrate is used. This also controls the ink/water balance.
