Epple at FachPack: Solutions for sustainable print production are in demand

Epple Druckfarben AG drew a very positive balance from FachPack in Nuremberg (25. to 27.09.2018): the broad range of migration harmless food, non-food and UV packaging printing inks from the printing ink manufacturers from Neusäß, met customer requirements precisely. The joint trade show stand with the partners from PrintCity as a "Connection of Competence", really paid off and the compact presence of the packaging printing value added chain was very well received by the attendees.

"FachPack is an inspiring platform for the packaging printing sector. High quality, specialist trade discussions demonstrate the attractiveness of the event, and our product range, to us," explains Gunther Gerlach, Chairman of the Board at Epple Druckfarben AG. He continues: "We were able to determine that sustainable packaging printing is growing in importance, and there is a large demand for information on this topic." This has been taken on board early by Epple; and they were recognised as the pioneer of inner side printing of foodstuff packaging on the first day of the trade fair, within the framework of a ceremonial award of the German Packaging Award, 2018.

German Packaging Award 2018

BoFood® Organic received the German Packaging Award in the category “safety” as ink system for safe inner side packaging printing with possible direct foodstuff contact. A range of coordinated and compatible Epple products from the BoFood series stand behind this Packaging Award, based on their migration harmless properties for printing both outer and inner foodstuff packaging as well as a harmonised finishing varnish effect.

Sustainable Packaging Printing is growing in importance

The megatrends at FachPack were Digitization, E-Commerce, Packaging design and above all, sustainability. Indeed the management of the trade fair have announced that environmentally friendly packaging will be the Focus Topic for FachPack 2019. Application-technology know-how is already available from Epple, as the pioneer in migration harmless ink systems like the BoFood series and the new PURe inks. Intensive customer consultation led Epple also towards efficient production with UV inks on a BDMM free basis. These inks are specially suited to eye-catching packaging in the advertising driven industry, which is continuously strongly in demand.

The topic of product safety met with great interest among printers and their clients at FachPack. Helmut Fröhlich, Product Manager of Packaging at Epple: "Customers speak to us very often about legal guidelines, whether national or EU based. What are the statutory amendments that I can expect as a packaging printer in order to ensure the safety of users and consumers? We can pass on important knowledge in this aspect. Epple has prepared itself and its products to be oriented towards current developments; the keywords being the German Packaging Printing Ordinance."

Expert knowledge is in demand

In the course of the trade show, Epple's expertise in packaging printing inks was very much in focus: Helmut Fröhlich, presented twice in the PackBox Forum. One Workshop presented together with the colleagues from PrintCity was on the topic "Package design, Processing and Implementation." The second was within the framework of the FFI partnership on the topic of "Solution methods for the supply chain in the folding box sector." Epple emphasised its strong position in these presentations, regarding the further development of packaging printing from the viewpoint of offset printing inks.
