The effect of ecological ink

It is not enough to merely look at the recipe of an ink. It is the combination of properties that make up a sustainable ink. Ecological inks bring benefits to the printing process, which in turn have positive effects on environmental protection and society.

Saving resources. Environmentally friendly inks optimise the ecological cycle, in that the amount of printing waste and wastewater volumes are reduced. Printing with ecological inks has been optimised towards lowered consumption of paper, ink and water. Furthermore, ecological inks contribute to efficient energy management, e. g. no energy intensive dryers have to be implemented and the emissions are reduced (powder problems, dust, waste water, aluminium waste, and further waste such as wash-up fleeces and cleaning cloths).

A close coordination with the application technology people for more efficiency.

Recycling guaranteed. Epple’s ink systems comply with statutory and societal demands. Their deinkability, from used paper to a white substrate, is just as convincing as their recycling properties. The EU has planned a recovery rate for paper of 74 % for 2020.

Sustainable Printing inks also open up new business ideas: The migration harmless BoFood® Organic is the first sheetfed offset printing ink for printing the inner sides of foodstuff packaging. Branded companies thereby gain an extra surface for information and marketing ideas.

Application technology support. Epple’s application technology is there to support new users of ecological inks. They determine, in cooperation with the individual printing houses, the implementation of printing inks on other printing materials as well as the press technology.
